UMBRA

Shot with Umbra.

On 12 August 2026 Umbra ran on other people's rigs for the first time. These are frames it fired, chosen and processed by the photographers who pointed the cameras, published with their permission and credited to them.

"Umbra worked very well and helped me get very nice pictures."

I was so lucky to discover Umbra software just before the 2026 Total Solar Eclipse in Spain. This was my first eclipse, and I was very concerned about all the technicalities of changing the aperture and shutter speed at the correct time under pressure. Umbra eliminated my anxiety, allowing me to program everything ahead of time, test and rehearse it, which gave me confidence on the eclipse day. I was able to enjoy the eclipse with a glass of Sangria in my hand while Umbra handled all the heavy lifting. Pretty impressive!
A composite of the whole eclipse: a diagonal arc of partial phases running down the sky to totality and out again, over a Spanish landscape at dusk.

"Thanks to your app I could experience my first ever solar eclipse and also get great photos with almost no stress."

I can confirm that Umbra worked perfectly together with my Sony A7C II.

Shoot the next one with it. Umbra is free, it runs on a Mac, and it drives Sony, Nikon, Canon, LUMIX, Fujifilm and more. Download it, rehearse with your own rig, and if you come back with frames you love, send them. This page is for the people who shot them, not for me.
